K.C. Higgins was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He embarked on his career in woodcarving while working as a yacht delivery captain in New
Orleans. It was on scraps of marine teakwood and mahogany that he developed his relief
carving techniques, which he later used to create full sculptures and figureheads cut from
green cypress. His pieces are in numerous collections throughout the United States and
have been featured in galleries and in the White House. He has worked in antique repair,
restoring sculptures by famed Art Deco artist Demetre Chiparus and furniture by designer
Iacob. He holds patents for large and small duplicating machines capable of producing
mirror images of wood and stone carvings. Today he creates custom carved doors, panels,
and various architectural elements, each a unique work of art.
